The city's primary museum campus occupies a 35,000-square-foot building in Gateway Park and covers the natural and cultural history of the San Juan Basin, including the area's geology, the Ancestral Puebloan civilization, Spanish colonial history, and the 20th-century oil and gas economy that built modern Farmington. A planetarium on-site (the Sycamore Park Community Center) hosts star talks and youth astronomy programs. The museum's permanent collections include a significant inventory of Navajo textiles and regional archaeological material. At roughly $2 admission, it remains the community's most affordable cultural institution.
