Nix Creek Trail: A Favorite for Walking & Biking

Looking for an easy way to get outside? Nix Creek Trail winds through parks, neighborhoods, and shaded green spaces, making it a favorite spot for walking, running, biking, and enjoying a little fresh air close to home.

Waterfalls near Texarkana: Day Trips.

One of the great things about living in Texarkana is how many waterfalls there are to experience within a two to two and a half hour drive. They make a great day trip adventure! A great one to visit in the spring (but really all year round) is Little Missouri Falls in the Albert Pike Recreation Area, of the Ouachita National Forest. It's a stunning, series of cascading falls. There's also a beautiful, CCC era construction, overlook with sweeping views of the whole area. It's a short hike to get to the falls and it's worth it! Texarkana, Arkansas has a wonderful walking path! The Nix Creek Trail is a paved path that runs 4 miles through parks, neighborhoods, and by the Gateway Farmer's Market. It's a flat, paved path that's great for walking, jogging, biking, and easy for strollers or wagons as well.

Texarkana, Arkansas welcomes pets! The city has several wonderful parks, and a dedicated dog park too. JefFURson PetSafe park is off of Jefferson Boulevard. It features a large, fenced area for large dogs and a separate area for smaller dogs. It has water spigots and a few play structures too. Want to get some food with your furry friend? Bobby Ferguson Park is a beautiful park right next to UAHT and Four States Fair. It has over one of paved trail that wraps around the lake. The lake is four acres and stocked with fish. Fishing license required for ages 16 and up. There are also multiple playgrounds, three pavilions available to rent, and a great fishing pier that is also a great photo op spot for sunsets.
