Stillwater

Known as America’s Friendliest College Town, Stillwater offers a diverse and welcoming community. 

Home to Oklahoma State University, Stillwater residents can cheer on the Cowboys, tour the Botanical Garden at OSU, and take in a concert at McKnight Center for the Performing Arts. Explore the Downtown Stillwater Cultural District to find art galleries, community centers, museums, and the Stillwater Public Library. 

Browse unique shops, like 405 Mercantile and All Around Cowgirl Boutique on Main Street in the Historic Downtown Stillwater District, then swing by Aspen Coffee Company for an espresso and a snack. Ponca City

Ponca City is named after the Ponca tribe, who relocated from Nebraska to northern Oklahoma from 1877 to 1880.

Lake Ponca is an excellent destination to relax and get outside, plus it’s only a twelve-minute drive from downtown. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the Herb Festival, Oktoberfest, and the Ponca City Fox Hunt (don’t worry—they aren’t real foxes).

Scottsdale

Located in east Maricopa County, a part of the Greater Phoenix Area, lies a vibrant community with its own unique southwest flavor: Scottsdale, Arizona. Oak Ridge

Located in eastern Tennessee, Oak Ridge is full of historical significance and small-town charm.

Plainfield is just a stone's throw from Indianapolis, so you get that small-town vibe without being too far removed from the big-city action. The cost of living here is super reasonable compared to Indy itself, with nice homes going for a pretty penny less. And when you're not clocked in working remotely, there's plenty to keep you busy right in Plainfield. The locally-owned restaurant scene is top-notch. You've got to check out Oasis Diner for some world-famous pie and diner grub. They've been featured on all the foodie shows. Then there's The Coachman, an unpretentious steakhouse with live music. Their prime rib is to die for. For something a little trendier, Brew Link Brewing has amazing craft beers and gourmet bar food. As for recreational offerings, you're just a couple of miles from Hummel Park which has a wooden pedestrian bridge, playgrounds, a splash pad, an amphitheater for live music and a sledding hill. The town also has a huge recreation and aquatic center with basketball courts, exercise areas, pools, an indoor play area, community rooms, a media center and fitness trails. There are also a ton of community events happening all year round in the charming downtown area. Now for families, the Plainfield school system is really solid. Both Plainfield High School and the middle/elementary schools get high ratings—lots of AP classes, extracurriculars and strong sports programs. The town in general just has such a family-friendly, safe atmosphere that makes it ideal for raising kids. Between affordable living, dining/entertainment options, recreational activities and great schools, Plainfield offers remote workers and families the total package. Located just south of Kansas City in eastern Kansas, Overland Park offers a small-town community with all the perks of big-city life.

Versailles

Residing in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and at the junction of the Etowah and the Oostanaula rivers, Rome, Georgia offers an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities to explore the woods and local waterways. Parkville

A historic city in Southern Platte County, Parkville is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. Situated on the banks of the Missouri River, Parkville offers small-town living and community pride.

Located 18 miles southwest, in Kansas City, Missouri, visit the National World War 1 Museum and Memorial. There, discover more than 300,000 objects and documents from the Great War while listening to curated stories.

Oxford

A creative community in Northern Mississippi and located 75 miles southeast of Memphis, Oxford is known as “The Cultural Mecca of the South.” 

Explore the city’s historic town square, browsing Square Books, a well-known independent bookstore occupying four stores in three separate buildings. Tour Rowan Oak, home of Nobel Prize-winning author William Faulkner, who penned several famous works while living there, including “As I Lay Dying” and “A Fable.” Home to the University of Mississippi, walk the Mississippi Trail, pausing at the Ole’ Miss statue dedicated to James Meredith, the university’s first African American student, who was admitted in 1962 during the Civil Rights movement. While on campus, visit the J.D. Williams Library and discover the blues archives. Touting three major collections, the B.B. King Collection includes 7,000 recordings, plus films, photos, and other big-band era memorabilia. 

Learn about Oxford’s history at the Burns-Belfry Museum, which displays African American exhibits about slavery and civil rights. Enjoy the great outdoors and fish for crappie at Sardis Lake or bike the South Campus Rail Trail. 

Dine at a variety of unique restaurants offering everything from down-home cooking to food prepared by award-winning chefs. 

Less than an hour away, Tupelo Regional Airport utilizes Contour Airlines to provide direct flights to Nashville, Oakland, Phoenix, and Baltimore.

Sugar Land

Called “the sweetest city in Texas,” Sugar Land is located 20 miles southwest of Houston. Renowned for its diverse food culture, Sugar Land’s vibrant culinary scene rivals larger cities and satisfies any hunger. Head to Imperial Park Recreation Center and stock your fridge with seasonal produce, grass-fed beef, and homemade baked goods at the Imperial Farmer’s Market. Feeling full? Burn off some calories at Oyster Creek Park. Spanning 111 acres, the scenic recreational area includes a three-mile hiking and biking trail. Just a half-hour away, the Houston William P. Hobby Airport charters direct flights to many popular national and international destinations.

Dayton

Located in east Tennessee, just along the Tennessee River, Rhea County consists of three major cities: Dayton, Spring City, and Graysville. 

The mountains of Walden Ridge provide a beautiful backdrop for an area where life moves at a slower pace.
