Benefits of joining the Nursing Team at Daviess Community Hospital:

 Applicant will be eligible after they have completed 1st semester of nursing school. Once the Student Nurse Intern has entered their last year/senior year of nursing school, they will receive a pay increase. The Student Nurse Intern will be offered 1:1 precepted hours for 1 shift every month (dependent on staffing) and periodic educational opportunities will be offered.

 Extern must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing. Extern will receive a 

$5000 sign on bonus (paid in installments) with a 2 year commitment. 

NCLEX reimbursement is available. Extern will have the opportunity to float to other areas/departments of the hospital for experience. Once the extern passes their RN boards, they will transition to a registered nurse position and continue their orientation.

Sheridan County is located in Northwest Kansas, two counties south of the Nebraska border (about 45 minutes) and three counties east of the Colorado border (about 1 hour 20 minutes). Sheridan County is named for Civil War General Phillip H. Sheridan. The Kansas Legislature created the county in 1873. While settlements began in the 1860s, it was not until they experienced an influx of settlers in the late 1870s that led to official organization on June 5, 1880. Kenneth was the county seat until 1886 when the railroad went through Hoxie instead of Kenneth. Kenneth was moved to Hoxie and the county seat became Hoxie. The Union Pacific Railroad’s arrival in the late 1880s caused major economic benefits to the area. 

Sheridan County is home to two primary cities: Hoxie and Selden. Additional townships within the county include Angelus, Seguin, and Studley. The county boast several scenic sites including the Sheridan State Fishing Lake and the historic Cottonwood Ranch in nearby Studley. History buffs will enjoy learning about local history at the Sheridan County Historical Society and Mickey's Museum in Hoxie.
